I love the Ice King as a character too but I really hope the guys don’t overlook the conversation of forcing yourself to relive trauma that the writers are trying to tell with Simons character through this show. I’m definitely not expecting them to have a full conversation about it but just kind of acknowledge that its there and shouldn’t be completely swept under the rug like they seem to be doing so far

]]>I’m a fan of The Ice King too, but your reaction leaves me a bit perplexed, without being mean. The crown caused Simon to lose everything. All the stories with Simon show us that the crown drove him mad to the point of losing Betty, and that he had no memory of Marceline, he was in madness. ok the ice king had become nice, but we are talking about a human who lost his mind. The fact that he wants to go back to madness is more depressing than hype. For a long time, we hoped that the ice king would become Simon again. Even you guys, I remember, you sincerely wished to see Simon again at the time.

Yeah they do tend to keep things light, and usually I love that, but this show relies heavily on trauma and mental health so hopefully by mentioning it they’ll at least have it somewhere in the back of their heads xD

I don’t believe they understand the undertone of the negativity this brings into Simons mind. But, I guess it makes the story more fun for them and less stressful because at least Simon isn’t technically dying! lol

I don’t think they’re big on the mental health aspect of shows like this. They’re more into the references and the non-serious parts to the stories. I hope they start paying more attention to these episodes and what the shows story had to offer before this!

]]>Also please let’s not forget that Ice King, despite being a vibe, wasn’t a good thing. It can be easy to get swept up in the “oh he wasn’t so bad… now that he’s gone” mentality, but Simon was CURSED. It wasn’t fun, and his decision to turn back is actually very self-destructive considering how depressed he’s been so far.

Yeah the skirt was iconic to me, and I wish they kept it, but I understand why they didn’t and it’s not a big deal, just slightly disappointing but not detrimental at all to my enjoyment of the show.
